Summer DT Call Announced!

Hi friends! I hope you're having a great summer!

I'm looking to add a few fresh faces to our team... are you one of the new Lucky Girls?

I'm currently seeking DT members who are:
* Creative, enthusiastic, fun & easy going

* Can follow deadlines and submit 3-5 projects a month, with a willingness to do more to cross-promote with other sites on occasion

* Is willing to promote this blog and the store through word of month and links on their personal blog, signature lines, etc.

* Posting to online galleries with links/description of Lucky Girl Craft kits where allowed

Previous design team experience is not necessary! Preference will be given to those who have worked with at least one Lucky Girl Crafts kit in the past.

Lucky Girl DT members will receive free product each month, discounts on additional product and publication on the store's site

Friday Fun Day - Happy Summer Sketch Book

Hello Lucky girls! Sabrina here and today I'd like to share with you a little notepad I created using leftover bits from June's kit - Hullabaloo. My leftover papers were really cut to smithereens but there were lots of 4x6ish pieces and of course the delightful JBS bingo card *needed* to be worked somewhere. The large size of it made a perfect base for this project.

I started by cutting all my papers to 4x5 inches so they would fit nicely within the frame around the card. Then took some computer paper and cut it slightly smaller so it would fit behind the cardstock. When you have everything positioned just so, hold tightly and punch through it with your Crop-o-dile or hole puncher. Score your cardstock about 1/4" below the punched holes so they can be easily bent back.

Next I cut about 1 yard of the luscious MME twine and threaded it through the holes 3 times to secure the paper tightly to the back. Add a button and double knot, then make a bow. This looks nice but also doubles as a place for K-man to practice his bow-tying skills. I then stapled a paper strip under the pad to hold a crayon and added a random photo that was hanging out and just happened to work with these colors.

And here's a little peek at the blank pages within, ready to hold memories and drawings of his summer. I'll be tucking this in my bag to pull out during long car rides, down-time during camping, and those other periods of waiting that seem to turn little idle hands into trouble making and sister teasing. :)

Lucky Girls Friday Fun Day: sketch challenge

Hey there, all you Lucky Girls: I'm issuing a challenge to you for today's FFD!

I am a sketch-a-holic. Whether I follow them closely or not-so-closely, I almost always start my layouts by choosing or drawing a sketch. It helps me plan my photo sizes and placement and just generally gets me started creatively.

When I ordered photos recently, I drew this sketch to make a layout about the fantastic bed and breakfast where we stayed for our 3rd anniversary:

As soon as I laid eyes on the MME circle die cut in the June 2011 Lucky Girls kit, I knew it was perfect for the photos I'd just printed. I modified the sketch a bit to make my layout, but the general idea is still pretty obvious-- the photo placement is the same, and I've kept the circle motif.

My challenge to you is to use this sketch to make a layout! Get out your Lucky Girl kits and get creating... and be sure to link up your layouts so that we can see what you've come up with!
