Lots of photos to celebrate the little things

It's Natalie again, and I'm back with another two-page layout. I love to make two-page layouts because I can fit so many photos onto them!

There is a huge farmer's market in our city, and Husband and I finally made it up there to sample its goodness. I took lots of photos the first time we went, and the patterned papers in the September Lucky Girls kit with their homey, small-scale prints were perfect to fill in sections of my photo grid. I used my sewing machine and some butter-yellow thread to give the patterned paper sections a little border.

I wanted to embellish these patterned paper blocks a little more, so I pulled out a couple of the corrugated hearts that came in this kit, inked their edges with some brown ink, and pop-dotted them in the pink sections. I added a couple of the foam dots from the Thickers set to tie in the aqua color from the title.

For the kraft sections, I made layered flowers by cutting three circles of increasing size out of two of the floral papers with my pinking shears, inking their edges, and crumpling them. I punched two holes and tied the layers together with twine. I think they are pretty cute!

A Jillibean Soup label sticker was the perfect place to add the date above my title, and I framed the journaling with a large bracket die cut with my Silhouette.

A two-page layout with the September kit!

Hi all, Natalie here again with a two-page layout that I created with the gorgeous September 2011 Lucky Girls kit!

Husband and I have made it an unofficial goal to see as many of the waterfalls in our area as we can while we live here. Earlier this summer, we traveled about 20 minutes from where we live to see Chittenango Falls. It was a beautiful little hike, even if it was a grayish sort of day.

The papers in the September Lucky Girls kit were perfect for the photos I had from our afternoon at the falls. I am a B-side kind of girl, so I immediately was attracted to the gray houndstooth side of the Bite Sized Bits paper. And probably my absolute favorite paper in the kit as the kraft-background White Macaroni. I cut my title and the scalloped border from that paper!

The polkadot twill tape was the perfect continuation of the circle theme... and I added the vintage buttons tied with some of the twine. To highlight the photo of Husband and I, I traced a small plate and hand-stitched along the pencil line with more of the twine. As a warning if you try this yourself-- make sure you pierce nice big holes ahead of time! Stitching with twine is not for the faint of heart, haha!

Shimmery titlework

Good morning and happy Monday, Lucky Girls! This is Natalie, and this week I have the privilege of sharing with you my layouts created with the August kit, "Summer Shimmer."

So without further ado, here is my first-- a double-pager...

I have to admit, while I was super excited to see a Glimmer Mist included in this month's kit, I was also a bit nervous. You see, I haven't done much misting! But I decided to embrace the challenge and use the mist as the main feature -- for my titlework -- on this layout.

I got out a piece of scrap cardstock that was the same color as the background paper I used and laid out my letters (from my stash). I experimented with the way my mist sprayed so that I was confident I could create the look I was going for, and then I went for it on the actual background paper! To finish off the title, I cut my second word with my Silhouette from patterned paper in the kit and placed it right across the misted word.

I added little strips of patterned paper to accent the photos and on the edge of the layout... and I punched hearts from the patterned papers and my practice-misted paper to sprinkle across the pages.

And there are two more photos tucked behind the vertical panel of photos! I couldn't not include them, so I adhered one each to the front and back of a tag and slipped it in, with baker's twine from the June kit as a pull tab.
