Right now, as I sit typing this with a steaming cup of cocoa next to me, I'm reflecting over the wild & crazy ride called 2010. Thank you to all of you who have joined the Lucky Girls in a creative journey over the last few months. Your support means the world to me - thank you.

My goal in the coming year is to provide you with great sources of inspiration to aid crafters of all skill levels. I've been there as a beginner, overwhelmed and not knowing where to start. As I've advanced my craft over the last 15 years, I've also been at the point where everything starts looking the same and it's difficult to come up with fresh ideas.

Hi friends! I hope you had a crafty and creative weekend.

With the new year approaching, Lucky Girl is going to be making a few changes. Our current design team is sadly coming to the end of their term, and, as much as I'm going to miss each one of those talented ladies, I'm looking to add a few fresh faces to our team. Are you one of the new Lucky Girls?

I'm currently seeking DT members who are:
* Creative, enthusiastic, fun & easy going

* Can follow deadlines and submit 3-5 projects a month, with a willingness to do more to cross-promote with other sites on occasion

* Is willing to promote this blog and the store through word of month and links on their personal blog, signature lines, etc.

* Posting to online galleries with links/description of Lucky Girl Craft kits where allowed

Previous design team experience is not necessary!

Lucky Girl DT members will receive free product each month, discounts on additional product and publication on the store's site.

Hello again my friends, new and old! Welcome to day 2 of the best holiday party in town - our monthly Blog Party celebrating our newest arrival...

Warm Winter Wishes - December 2010 Lucky Girl Crafts kit

Our Design Team has been hard at work creating some fantastic holiday treats to inspire you, so I hope you'll check out each of the Lucky Girls to see their amazing work! New projects are posted on every Lucky Girl blog each day of our party (always the 1-3 of each month), and there are FIVE PRIZES to be won from some of our Lucky Girl fans! Thanks to all of you who spread the word about our Blog Party for yesterday's entries for this month's grand prize. It's great to see some new faces. :D

For today's projects, I thought I'd create some beautiful (yet simple!) handmade cards that display the beauty of the patterned papers in this month's kit:

For this card, I used three of the patterned papers in the kit and hand-cut two funky little mittens out of the most rustic-looking of the bunch. Once everything was distressed with coordinating ink, I added twine and buttons and popped the mittens up with foam dots. A simple rub-on saying and rub-on flourish (both from the American Crafts rub-ons included with this month's kit) quickly finished the card.



Total time - including creating design concept & detailing:
About 15 minutes. Not too shabby!

This second card is actually one of my favorite all-time projects I've created. I love the look of these sweet vintage girls from the Bo Bunny paper, and actually cut them out of the paper first before using any other portions for other projects. I salvaged the NOEL word from the Making Memories paper - it just happened to be one of the parts I had left. And the ribbon - that's just a tiny 2" piece. So really, besides the base, this card only uses scraps.

I altered all of the papers (again), then adhered them to the card base. I slipped the end of the ribbon behind the red matted cardstock, then added a dimensional glaze to my words and to the berries in the music note base paper. Before the word NOEL was completely dry, I added white Martha Stewart marble glitter to the word - the effect in person is kind of like snow. A tiny American Crafts flower (so fun!) and K&Co. blingage finishes off this card with vintage charm.

About 15 minutes
Total time to wait for the card to dry before pictures:
Another 30 or so... beware of playing with dimensional glaze before it's dry! Brought to you by another "Do as I say, not what I do" moment. LOL!
